Duties

Brief Introduction:

The Inspector General (IG) functions as the "eyes and ears" of the Wing Commander. Most of our time is spent inspecting units within California for compliance with CAP Regulations. Each Group, Squadron, and Flight is inspected approximately every two years. While the 24-month cycle inspections are required by regulation, the IG team is available to support squadrons in off-schedule self-evaluations. All levels of command are encouraged to contact the IG team outside of their inspection cycle, the team is happy to help in clarification of the inspection process including tips and guidance on how to have an effective inspection.

Complaints, while under the IG umbrella, are no longer handled at the wing level. All complaints are addressed via submission at the National level, via an online Complaint Registration Form

FAQ's

Q. How can I become an Inspector General?
A. Take the online Basic Inspector General Course, contact one of the IG staff, and tell them that you are interested.

Q. Can I complain about my Commander?
A. Yes. All complaints should first be addressed with the next highest level of command to seek a prompt and reasonable resolution. This means a complaint about a Squadron Commander should be addressed with the Group Commander, and a complaint about a Group Commander should be addressed by the CAWG Vice Commander......However, before a complaint is submitted the concerned party should refer to CAPR 20-2 to determine if a formal complaint is warranted.

Most complaints can be addressed and resolved through the proper chain of command.
